About The Position

The Grain Elevator Operator performs hands-on grain receiving, storage, handling, drying, blending, and loading. The role includes monitoring the condition of stored grain and maintaining and cleaning grain facilities and equipment to provide a safe environment for team members. Operators are cross-trained to perform a variety of tasks. The position is located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and uses various grain-handling equipment, mainly conveyors and legs, to handle bulk commodities such as wheat, corn, and soybeans.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation.
• For safety reasons, able to read, write, understand, and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English.
• Available to work overtime and weekends.
• Professional demeanor, including safety-consciousness, quality job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communication.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Able to work in tight and confined spaces and at heights.
• Able to frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
• Able to ascend and descend ladders.
• Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

• Receive, store, handle, dry, blend, and load grain.
• Monitor the condition of stored grain.
• Maintain and clean grain facilities and equipment to provide a safe environment for team members.
• Perform a variety of tasks as part of cross-training.
