Graduate Nurse - Adult RN Residency Program

Loma Linda University Health•Murrieta, CA

About The Position

The Graduate Nurse (GN) is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and less than one year of clinical experience who has been accepted into Loma Linda University Health’s formal RN Residency Program. The program is designed to help new graduates and inexperienced nurses transition into competent nursing practice at Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta, an acute care facility with multiple specialty fields of nursing. The residency provides a supportive environment for professional development and for refining the application of the nursing process in everyday practice. RN preceptors and mentors guide the nurse through specific tools and experiences. The program includes education in age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care in a skills-mix environment and uses LLUMC-Murrieta’s Professional Practice Model, Duffy’s Quality Caring Theory, to connect nursing practice with quality outcomes. The GN develops decision-making skills, applies basic theoretical concepts to clinical practice, and embraces knowledge, innovation, and practice improvements to enhance patient experience and clinical outcomes. The role also involves using interpersonal skills to support safe, professional care and fostering a caring, cooperative work environment among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Other duties may be assigned as needed. After successfully completing the Graduate Nurse requirements, the employee is eligible to transition into the Clinical Nurse A classification.
