About The Position

The Graduate Nurse (GN) is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and less than one year of clinical experience who has been accepted into Loma Linda University Health’s formal RN Residency Program. The program is designed to support new graduates and inexperienced nurses as they transition into competent nursing practice at Loma Linda University Medical Center–Murrieta, an acute care facility with multiple nursing specialties. The residency provides a supportive environment for professional development and refinement of the nursing process through tools and experiences guided by RN preceptors and mentors. It offers education in age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care within a skills-mix environment, using the facility’s Professional Practice Model (Duffy’s Quality Caring Theory) to connect nursing practice with quality outcomes. The GN develops decision-making skills, applies theoretical concepts in clinical practice, embraces knowledge and practice improvements, and uses interpersonal skills to support patient experience, safety, professionalism, and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Other duties may be assigned as needed. After successfully completing the Graduate Nurse requirements, the employee is eligible to transition into the Clinical Nurse A classification. Candidates must understand and embrace Loma Linda University Health’s Christian mission, purpose, and identity.
