About The Position

The Department of TV, Film, and Media Studies seeks graduate students for a Graduate Assistant position. This role involves providing non-teaching assistance to faculty members, including research support, training on equipment, assisting with course materials, participating in student work evaluation, and tutoring. The appointment dates are Fall 2026 (August 21, 2026 – December 23, 2026) and Spring 2027 (January 21, 2027– May 29, 2027). Students can work up to 20 hours per week during the semester.

Requirements

  • Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of TV, Film, and Media Studies.
  • Currently enrolled in or admitted to a Cal State LA graduate degree program.
  • Admissions to the Master Program in the Department of TV, Film, and Media Studies, in good academic standing
  • Enrollment in course(s) for the semester towards the degree
  • Ability to relate well with others within the academic environment and have the ability or potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students
  • Demonstrate commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Satisfactorily completed background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional non-teaching assistance to faculty member
  • Provide research assistance and practical experience in fields related to their advanced study

  • Assisting faculty with research and preparation of course materials
