The position is an adjunct instructional appointment, not eligible for tenure or promotion in rank, and is a term appointment for the Spring 2027 semester. They hold regular office hours and design and supervise discussion sections, laboratories, assignments, projects, and exams as appropriate. Instructors are expected to collaborate with colleagues, remain current in the field, and follow departmental, school or college, and university policies and procedures. Applicants for undergraduate instruction must have either an earned master's degree in film and/or media studies or a closely related discipline, or a bachelor's degree in film or media studies or a closely related field plus at least five years of relevant applied experience. Applicants for graduate instruction must have an earned master's degree in film and/or media studies or a closely related discipline. For both levels, candidates need college- or university-level film/media teaching experience or comparable professional experience, a distinguished record of production and/or performance in a medium appropriate to the subject, and native or near-native proficiency in English. A distinguished record is described as lengthy and notable or prominent artistic and/or academic work in nationally or internationally recognized venues. Exceptions to the undergraduate degree requirement may be considered individually with approval from the applicable College Dean and Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs. The posting also lists an earned doctorate in film and/or media studies or a closely related discipline.
