About The Position
Ottawa University, established in 1865, is seeking a Graduate Assistant Coach to assist with the day-to-day management of the athletic team. This role requires some night and weekend work and a commitment to Christian higher education with a servant leadership style. The Graduate Assistant will help recruit, train, and coach members of the athletic program, focusing on retention and graduation of student-athletes. Responsibilities also include fundraising, overseeing academic progress, administrative duties, ensuring adherence to NAIA rules, and providing Christ-centered leadership. The position offers a tuition waiver for 18 credit hours per year, a partial meal allowance, and a bi-weekly living stipend for 12 months. Renewals are based on academic performance and quality of work.
Requirements
- Must be accepted and enrolled in an Ottawa University graduate program
- Completed online admissions application
- Submission of official undergraduate transcripts (3.0 GPA – minimum requirement)
- Submission of a personal statement regarding career goals and three professional references
- Other items as identified by the specific academic program
- Completed employment application

- Eligible to work in the United States and present proper documentation

Responsibilities
- Recruit, train and coach members of the athletic program
- Recruit, retain and graduate student-athletes who contribute to the success of the program and vibrancy of campus life
- Fund and friend raising for the advancement of the program
- Provide oversight of student-athletes academic progress toward degree completion
- Assist with any and all administrative duties as assigned
- Insure adherence to the NAIA and rules and regulations including the NAIA Champions of Character 5 core values
- Provide leadership for campus involvement and community service
- Provide Christ-centered leadership and direction for the program
- Other duties as assigned
