Student-Athlete Academic Services at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa invites applications for a Graduate Assistant position. Requirements

  • Classified University of Hawai'i at Manoa graduate student
  • One year of experience tutoring or providing academic support services
  • Strong oral communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Dependable, organized, and efficient

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with student-athletes in an athletic-academic setting
  • One year of formal classroom or instructional teaching experience
  • Experience working with students with learning disabilities

Responsibilities

  • Support academic advisors and/or learning specialists in providing academic assistance individually or in small group settings for academically at-risk, under-prepared, or otherwise requiring elevated levels of support.
  • Support the planning and implementation of academic support programming, including summer bridge, study hall operations, academic engagement initiatives, and student success programming.
  • Support tutor and mentor program initiatives, including training and resource development as needed.
  • Maintain professional, collaborative, and student-centered working relationships with staff and student-athletes.
  • Perform administrative, programmatic, and other related duties as assigned.
  • Work schedules may occasionally extend beyond standard business hours in support of center operations, study hall programming, and departmental initiatives.
  • Summer availability is required to support summer bridge programming and related departmental initiatives.
