About The Position

The Graduate Assistant - Baseball position is designed to assist the Head Coach in various aspects of the baseball program. The role involves recruiting, organizing and running practices, fundraising, promotional activities, and other assigned responsibilities. The successful candidate will serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, demonstrating strong leadership and fostering leadership development within the team. Key responsibilities include monitoring and assisting student-athletes with academic success, effectively recruiting quality student-athletes, performing sport-specific skills in practice, utilizing sport-specific technology, assisting in field maintenance and improvement, and supporting the head coach in all program aspects. This position description is not exhaustive and duties may change.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Acceptance into the Lakeland University graduate school program
  • Experience in the sport of baseball
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing recruitment, eligibility and related functions
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to effectively manage time and priorities
  • Ability to prioritize office workflow and make effective administrative decisions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity
  • Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communicate (written and verbal) with a variety of individuals
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products
  • Organizational ability, and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with recruiting, organizing and running practices, fundraising, and promotional activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model to student-athletes on and off the field.
  • Exhibit and develop leadership capabilities within student-athletes.
  • Monitor and assist student-athletes with academic success.
  • Effectively recruit quality student-athletes.
  • Perform sport-specific skills in practice and utilize sport-specific technology.
  • Assist in field maintenance and improvement.
  • Assist the head coach with any/all aspects of the program.
