About The Position
Park Meadows Elementary School is seeking a Grade 4/5 teacher to join their team at the beginning of the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in student support and hold an unwavering belief that every child is a capable learner. This is a temporary, full-time position (1.00 FTE) with an expected start date of August 25, 2026, and an anticipated completion date of June 29, 2027, or until the return of the incumbent. The school serves approximately 300 students and embraces inclusion, with a strong connection to the community. Children are valued for their diversity and empowered to grow as leaders and learners. Park Meadows prioritizes literacy, numeracy, and inquiry-based learning.
Requirements
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- Sound understanding of teaching context and contributing variables.
- Deep understanding of subject disciplines taught and pedagogical approaches based on best practice.
- Understanding of planning, assessment and instructional practices.
- Understanding of classroom management strategies that contribute to a positive learning environment.
- Previous experience teaching a multi-age classroom.
- Collaborative approach to working with a team.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience with English as an Additional Language learners in an inclusive learning classroom setting.
