About The Position
This position is for a teacher at Tamarac Education Centre, focusing on Grade 3 Immersion Integrated French Language Arts & Math and Grade 4 Core French. The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established on April 1, 2018. The SRCE's mission is to empower children and youth within safe, equitable, and inclusive environments to embrace a changing world as responsible, contributing, and successful lifelong learners. In the 2024-2025 school year, the SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,948 students and 375 children in pre-primary programs across 14 locations. The SRCE's jurisdiction covers approximately 11,000 square kilometers in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia, encompassing the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond.
Requirements
- Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia.
- Major/Minor in French or attended Immersion in the Public School system.
- Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition.
- Excellent classroom and student management skills.
- Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning.
- Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
- Knowledge of inter-disciplinary planning.
- Knowledge of Grades P-6 French Language Arts Curriculum.
- High level of proficiency in teaching in an Immersion setting.
- High level of proficiency in both written and spoken French (approved through the SRCE French proficiency testing).
- Provide at least three (3) work-related references, one of which must be your most recent supervisor.
- Provide a current (within the last 6 months), and clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment.
