About The Position

The Prosecution Services Unit (PSU) is responsible for providing legal services in the regulation of all health care boards and councils. PSU takes administrative action against healthcare practitioners for violations of the licensee’s practice act. The incumbent reports to the Deputy General Counsel (DGC) for the Prosecution Services Unit (PSU). The incumbent is responsible for maintaining records and reports regarding cases within PSU, by: Responding to status updates and drafting briefs in conjunction with the Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA) staff on cases within PSU Analyze data obtained through Licensure Enforcement Information Database System (LEIDS), research and liaising with attorneys, Office of the General Counsel, Attorney General’s Office and MQA staff. Researching trends in case progress and processes within PSU, regularly monitoring case intake and timeliness of case progression. Providing updates to the DGC on priority cases within PSU by providing reports and summaries of data and case progression The incumbent manages any and all reporting systems for the above data, including any Word, Excel or Smartsheet data files. The incumbent will utilize and analyze the data acquired and maintained, with consultation of DGC and leadership, to create efficiencies and identify areas of improvement in the processing PSU cases. The incumbent is responsible for the processing of all public records requests where PSU has responsive records. This includes tracking the request, providing invoices, assisting attorneys and staff with gathering responses, performing email inquiries, and liaising with outside parties as necessary. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the techniques for handling complaints and dealing with the public.
  • Ability to compile, organize and analyze data and create reports.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes, rules, policies and procedures for licensing and regulation of professionals and facilities, and consumer protection.
  • Ability to determine work priorities, multitask and ensure proper completion of work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to learn to use a case tracking system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • 5 years of professional experience in a legal, governmental, regulatory, or administrative environment.
  • Experience managing case files, records, or other confidential information.
  • Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.
