About The Position
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, Florida in the Office of the Inspector General. Our mission of the Office of the Inspector General at the Florida Department of Corrections is to protect and to promote public integrity and accountability within the Department through investigations, audits, and inspections. We aim to detect and prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct, ensuring that the Department operates efficiently and effectively while upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves. The areas served include Leon, Jefferson, Wakulla, and Gadsden.
Requirements
- Must have at minimum an associate degree or two years professional work experience.
- Must have Florida Department of Corrections previous internship, volunteer, or employment experience.
- Must have records management/ processing experience.
Responsibilities
- Receives and logs public record requests; prioritizes review of documents and processing of requests according to urgency of response.
- Keeps account of all costs associated with responses to records requests, including personnel time, number of pages copied, computer run and programming times, and other duplication costs to prepare cost estimate for requestor.
- Reviews and has a basic understanding of Florida law regarding exempt/confidential records to provide basic assistance on the interpretation of exemptions to requestors.
- Reviews records for all applicable exemptions under current Florida or federal law and redacts any confidential information in conjunction with such exemptions prior to the records release.
- Ensures responsiveness of public records requests by reviewing responsive documents, pursuant to records searches conducted, to ascertain that responses address the specific nature of requests.
