About The Position

SpaceX is seeking a Global Supply Manager to own end-to-end sourcing strategy, supplier management, and delivery of datacenter cooling equipment and supporting systems for its hyperscale AI clusters. The role covers mechanical cooling infrastructure—including dry coolers, chillers, pumps, and CDUs—as well as auxiliary piping, valves, controls and instrumentation, and chemicals and consumables. The manager will work closely with responsible engineers and thermal systems teams to set commodity strategy, create multi-year roadmaps, maintain approved vendor lists, and secure supply at SpaceX’s required scale and pace. The position includes negotiating commercial agreements, using predictive supply-chain tools, fostering supplier innovation, and developing a supply base that supports uptime, energy efficiency, reliability, and rapid deployment. The successful candidate will bring cooling-systems expertise and experience managing both capital equipment and recurring consumables. The role is based onsite in Bastrop or Austin, Texas, and requires domestic and international travel as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in business, supply chain, engineering, or energy; alternatively, 10+ years of experience in one or more of those fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience in global supply chain, procurement, or commodity management focused on cooling systems, HVAC, mechanical infrastructure, or industrial fluid systems.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Ability to work onsite in Bastrop, Texas, or Austin, Texas.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with rapidly evolving priorities and a high execution pace.
  • Must meet SpaceX’s stated ITAR eligibility requirements: qualifying U.S. citizenship or immigration status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep technical understanding of datacenter cooling technologies, including dry coolers, chillers, CDUs, pumps, piping and valve systems, controls and instrumentation, chemical consumables, and liquid-cooling architectures.
  • Track record sourcing capital cooling equipment and supporting components or consumables in hyperscale, datacenter, or heavy-industrial environments.
  • Experience at fast-paced, high-growth technology or infrastructure companies with aggressive scaling demands.
  • Previous experience at hyperscalers, datacenter operators, cooling OEMs such as Trane, Carrier, or Vertiv, EPC firms, or industrial fluid-system providers.
  • Demonstrated success in ambiguous, high-velocity environments with aggressive timelines and large scale.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, project-management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with commodity management, long-lead equipment procurement, roadmap planning, and approved vendor-list processes.
  • Passion for SpaceX’s mission and excitement about enabling rapid AI-infrastructure deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineers, thermal architects, and facility teams to define commodity strategies, multi-year technology roadmaps, and approved vendor lists for cooling systems, related components, and consumables, anticipating demand and density requirements 12–24 months ahead.
  • Own global sourcing, supplier qualification, dual- and multi-sourcing strategies, and supplier performance management for cooling equipment, systems, and consumables.
  • Negotiate agreements covering pricing, volume, co-development, manufacturing capacity, lead-time reductions, NRE funding, priority allocation, and flexible supply programs.
  • Deploy predictive analytics, AI-driven demand forecasting, and real-time supply-chain visibility tools to identify and mitigate risks before they affect deployments or operations.
  • Drive cost leadership through should-cost modeling, value engineering, specification optimization, and long-term pricing agreements while meeting reliability, efficiency, and redundancy standards.
  • Lead supplier innovation programs involving high-efficiency designs, modular cooling packages, advanced controls, low-GWP refrigerants, optimized piping and valves, and next-generation CDU and pump technologies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with OEMs, component suppliers, and chemical providers; conduct executive business reviews, joint development projects, and performance scorecards.
  • Standardize and automate procurement, NPI, inventory optimization, and installation-support processes; establish and review weekly KPIs for cost, quality, speed, efficiency, and resilience.
  • Champion responsible sourcing, supplier carbon-footprint reduction, low-global-warming-potential cooling technologies, water-use optimization, and circular-economy practices.
  • Monitor datacenter cooling, thermal management, controls, and fluid-chemistry trends and translate them into sourcing strategies.
  • Mentor cross-functional teams on cooling supply-chain best practices and foster ownership, speed, technical depth, and continuous optimization.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support supplier factories, equipment testing, and critical projects at SpaceX data centers.
