About The Position

SpaceX is seeking a leader to build and manage the team responsible for sourcing and supply chain strategy for datacenter compute infrastructure. The role oversees GPUs and other accelerators, CPUs, storage, ODM/CM relationships, and server and rack components supporting SpaceXAI’s large-scale AI training clusters and compute facilities. The manager will define commodity strategies, develop team capabilities, align roadmaps with engineering and vendors, secure supply, and optimize cost, quality, speed, and resilience. The position is based onsite in Austin, Texas, or Palo Alto, California, and may require domestic and international travel to support supplier relationships and critical projects. The successful candidate must be able to work in a dynamic environment with rapidly evolving priorities and a high execution pace. ITAR export-control eligibility requirements apply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in business, supply chain, or engineering; alternatively, 12+ years of experience in one or more of those fields in lieu of a degree.
  • 6+ years of experience in global supply chain, procurement, or commodity management focused on compute hardware such as GPUs, CPUs, storage, or servers.
  • 3+ years of experience in people management.
  • 3+ years of experience building, leading, and managing sourcing teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Ability to thrive amid rapidly evolving priorities and a fast execution pace.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. government export-control eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain required authorizations.
  • Must work onsite in Austin, Texas, or Palo Alto, California.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical understanding of datacenter compute architectures, GPUs/accelerators, CPUs, storage systems, ODM/CM models, servers, and racks.
  • Experience in fast-paced hyperscale or AI infrastructure environments.
  • Background working with major compute suppliers, ODMs, and contract manufacturers.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, and cross-functional skills.
  • Proven ability to secure supply and manage costs in constrained, high-demand markets.
  • Passion for SpaceXAI’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and mentor a sourcing team focused on GPUs/accelerators, CPUs, storage, ODM/CM, servers, and racks.
  • Define commodity strategies and multi-year roadmaps with engineering, architecture, and platform teams.
  • Oversee end-to-end sourcing, supplier qualification, multi-sourcing, and supplier performance management to meet build schedules.
  • Coordinate demand across SpaceXAI companies and align internal roadmaps with vendors to secure allocation and capacity.
  • Negotiate major agreements covering pricing, volume, technology access, and reliable delivery.
  • Manage ODM/CM relationships and improve server and rack designs, cost, and delivery.
  • Monitor supply chain risks and implement mitigation plans for critical compute components.
  • Drive cost reduction through should-cost modeling, value engineering, and long-term agreements while maintaining quality and reliability.
  • Track team and category KPIs and provide updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and effective supply chain practices across the organization.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support supplier relationships and critical projects.
