About The Position

The City of Santa Clarita’s Administrative Services department is hiring one position at either the GIS Information Technology Analyst or Senior GIS Information Technology Analyst level, depending on the successful candidate’s skills and qualifications. The GIS Information Technology Analyst earns $52.99–$64.41 per hour (Steps 1–5); the Senior GIS Information Technology Analyst earns $59.96–$72.88 per hour (Steps 1–5). The GIS Information Technology Analyst performs advanced technical, professional, and analytical work using GIS databases to develop interactive online mapping applications; create cartographic maps, reports, files, and other information; maintain GIS data layers; interpret demographic data; and provide GIS information and training to City staff, clients, and outside agencies. The role also performs complex GIS analysis and supports City planning, engineering, administrative, and operational needs. The Senior GIS Information Technology Analyst additionally serves as the technical lead and subject matter expert for the City’s enterprise GIS environment. This level administers enterprise GIS infrastructure and databases, develops applications and integrations, leads complex projects, and supports custom applications and digital services throughout their lifecycle—from business analysis and solution design through testing, deployment, enhancement planning, and ongoing operations. The senior role also leads technology evaluation, establishes technical standards, and provides technical direction and training. The position requires travel to City facilities and other work sites for field assignments, meetings, GIS needs assessments, field-data collection and verification, and project support. The City may also call public employees to serve as Disaster Service Workers during emergencies.
