About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Geologist to join their team in Irvine, CA. This role involves both field and office work, with an expectation of 50% to 75% of time spent in the field. The position offers opportunities for mentorship and professional growth within the Resilience Environment team, contributing to improving quality of life through sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related field (i.e., environmental science, physical science).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Independent thinking.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting as well as independently and remotely.
  • Adaptable, creative problem solvers.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science degree in Geology or closely related field.
  • Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
  • Overseeing drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation.
  • Conducting groundwater sampling.
  • Subcontractor oversight.
  • Operation and maintenance of remediation systems.
  • Performing vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys.
  • Preparing subcontracts and overseeing the work of subcontractors.
  • Writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
  • Task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts.
  • Conducting field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling.
  • Supporting Pacific Northwest and National emergency response teams for rapid protection of human health and the environment.
  • Supporting incident response which may require unanticipated travel and work outside standard business hours.
