About The Position

Origin Mining Company operates the Mineral Park copper-molybdenum mine in Arizona and is focused on responsible, sustainable resource development. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Geology or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience at an operating open pit copper mine required.
  • Excellent safety record required.
  • Knowledge of porphyry copper deposits.
  • Ability to readily identify copper/moly minerals and log blasthole chips.
  • Strong knowledge of Vulcan or MineSight software, AutoCAD, Trimble Business Centre (TBC), and MS Office products.
  • Knowledge of sampling theory.
  • Strong understanding of assay methods, procedures, and sample flow though the assay process.

Nice To Haves

  • Surveying and assay sample preparation experience a plus.
  • Geotechnical and/or database (acQuire or Datashed) experience a plus.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills; self-motivated, team oriented.
  • First Responder or EMT certification would be a plus.
  • Possess or be able to obtain an FAA Drone License.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, compile, interpret, report, and archive data.
  • Analyze geologic and analytical data to assign mine material routing.
  • Use modeling software to identify mineralized areas and report material types by destination.
  • Execute QAQC program for data collection including blast hole assays.
  • Review assay lab procedures and methods.
  • Liaise with contract miner and engineering team.
  • Assist engineering team with slope stability monitoring and assessments.
  • Oversee and assist with blast hole sample preparation and organization.
  • Oversee sample preparation technicians.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform all aspects of daily tasks and assignments in a safe and professional manner.
  • Must be familiar with the use and administration of 30CFR (MSHA Code of Federal regulations) as it pertains to daily tasks.
  • Compile assay information and determine average grades of ore blocks, report, and reconcile ore control data.
  • Design and execute assay QAQC programs.
  • Upload data for incorporation into mine plan and survey files.
  • Effectively manage subordinate technicians.
  • Engage mining equipment operators and supervisors on material routing decisions.
  • Pit mapping: identify and document significant features of blast holes and pit walls.
  • Other duties which may be deemed necessary by the supervisor.
