The Genetics Counselor is responsible for providing genetic counseling to patients, parents and families. This role involves gathering family and medical history, discussing genetic testing options, obtaining informed consent, documenting patient information, and developing follow-up recommendations. The counselor will also assist families in understanding genetic disorders, their probable course, management strategies, medical recommendations, and recurrence risks. Additionally, the position involves developing and presenting educational programs, coordinating research protocols, and performing associated administrative tasks. Patient care and counseling will be provided to all patients of childbearing age.
