About The Position

Our Pediatric Genetics team is seeking a Genetic Counselor who thrives in a patient-centered, collaborative clinical environment. In this role, you’ll work directly with pediatric patients and their families, guiding them through genetic assessment, testing, and decision-making while partnering closely with physicians and laboratory services to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling from an Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC)–accredited program
Active Candidate Status for American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) board certification (required)
No prior professional experience required
New graduates and early-career genetic counselors are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive genetic counseling and genetic testing services to pediatric patients, including interpretation of clinical and laboratory findings for both patients and providers
Research and synthesize information related to specific genetic disorders and communicate clinical and genetic concepts in a clear, meaningful, and compassionate manner
Assess psychosocial factors impacting patients and families; provide emotional support and counseling throughout the care process
Educate patients and families on the risks, benefits, and limitations of genetic testing and medical procedures to support informed consent
Refer patients and families to appropriate community, state, or national resources as needed and maintain follow-up contact
Prepare thorough written documentation of genetic consultations for patients and referring providers
Collaborate directly with laboratory providers to order genetic and related tests and evaluate results upon receipt
Coordinate with non-ACL laboratories to arrange reference testing and services not available through internal laboratory partners
Provide teaching, mentorship, and clinical supervision to genetic counseling students, including support of clinical education objectives and professional development.
