About The Position

Our Pediatric Genetics team is seeking a Genetic Counselor who thrives in a patient-centered, collaborative clinical environment. In this role, you’ll work directly with pediatric patients and their families, guiding them through genetic assessment, testing, and decision-making while partnering closely with physicians and laboratory services to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling from an Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC)–accredited program
  • Active Candidate Status for American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) board certification (required)
  • No prior professional experience required
  • New graduates and early-career genetic counselors are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive genetic counseling and genetic testing services to pediatric patients, including interpretation of clinical and laboratory findings for both patients and providers
  • Research and synthesize information related to specific genetic disorders and communicate clinical and genetic concepts in a clear, meaningful, and compassionate manner
  • Assess psychosocial factors impacting patients and families; provide emotional support and counseling throughout the care process
  • Educate patients and families on the risks, benefits, and limitations of genetic testing and medical procedures to support informed consent
  • Refer patients and families to appropriate community, state, or national resources as needed and maintain follow-up contact
  • Prepare thorough written documentation of genetic consultations for patients and referring providers
  • Collaborate directly with laboratory providers to order genetic and related tests and evaluate results upon receipt
  • Coordinate with non-ACL laboratories to arrange reference testing and services not available through internal laboratory partners
  • Provide teaching, mentorship, and clinical supervision to genetic counseling students, including support of clinical education objectives and professional development.
