General Shop Assistant - Waterjet 2nd Shift
About The Position
The General Shop Assistant supports overall shop operations by performing secondary operations, basic machining, and general cleanup. The role is flexible and may involve assignment to different duties throughout the shop as needed. This is a full-time second-shift position with a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. The position requires repeatedly and frequently lifting 50 pounds or more throughout an 8–10-hour shift and standing for the entire shift. The job description notes that duties may change and that supervisors or managers may assign additional tasks. Employment is at will; the job description is not an employment contract.
Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Ability to repeatedly and frequently lift 50 pounds or more throughout an 8–10-hour shift.
- Ability to stand for the entire duration of the shift.
Responsibilities
- Perform secondary operations, including deburring, grinding, cleaning, counting, and packaging parts.
- Load and unload materials onto machines.
- Remove parts from machines.
- Operate basic machinery, such as drill presses and mills, for light machining tasks.
- Assist machine operators as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
- Uphold a positive company image through professionalism and teamwork.
- Perform general shop tasks and additional duties as assigned.
