About The Position

Element is hiring a Waterjet Operator to join its operations team. The role performs routine and non-routine machining assignments, prepares specimens for testing, and ensures timely and accurate results under direct supervision. The operator must follow established safety rules, the code of conduct, and company policies and procedures. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a stated salary range of $25–$35 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of laboratory safety.
• Associate degree in a related testing or science field and/or 3–6 years of experience in a machining shop environment.
• In-depth understanding of specimen preparation.
• Depth of understanding of machining concepts, measuring instruments, and dimensional concepts.
• Working knowledge of machine shop safety protocol.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift less than 50 pounds often and more than 50 pounds occasionally.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
• College or vocational school coursework welcomed.
• An Associate degree in a mechanical-related field may be held.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Use cutting equipment to prepare specimens for testing according to customer specifications.
• Design, set up, and perform machining tasks according to customer specifications and requirements.
• Perform work with little supervision and technical input from a Department Manager, Principal Machinist, Project Coordinator, or Engineer.
• Mentor and train less-experienced machinists by communicating machining processes and technical data effectively.
• Transfer technical knowledge of machining procedures and requirements to meet customer expectations.
• Maintain equipment and schedule preventative maintenance.
• Gather and record dimensions in accordance with quality assurance requirements.
