About The Position

Don Wood Automotive Group is seeking a dedicated General Sales Manager to join our team. This position requires a motivated leader who wants to build a strong team, influence dealership culture, and drive sustainable growth. As a General Sales Manager, you will have full accountability for sales performance, team development, and enhancing the customer experience. This role focuses on long-term growth, team alignment, and executing effective sales strategies.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Proven experience in automotive management, preferably as a Sales Manager, General Sales Manager, or General Manager
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and gain buy-in from the team
  • Process-oriented mindset with adaptability in coaching and decision-making
  • High accountability for personal and team performance
  • Commitment to a long-term leadership role aiming to build and grow the dealership
  • Local residency or willingness to relocate to Athens, Ohio

Responsibilities

  • Lead all variable operations including sales, finance and insurance alignment, and process execution
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing, accountable sales team
  • Drive consistent retail growth in gross profit and sales volume
  • Create a transparent, process-driven sales environment
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to shape dealership strategy and vision
  • Elevate customer experience to align with brand standards
  • Manage new and used vehicle inventory, including acquisition, reconditioning, merchandising, and disposition
  • Conduct coaching and training through regular one-on-one meetings with staff
  • Lead staff recruitment and hiring processes
