About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Sales Manager to join Jim Pattison Toyota on Regent. If you are a driven leader who is passionate about developing teams, delivering strong results, and consistently striving for operational and customer excellence, this role is for you. In this position, you will be responsible for leading the variable operations department, driving performance, and ensuring a high standard of customer experience aligned with dealership goals and brand expectations. This is a full-time, permanent leadership role based on approximately 40 hours per week. Given the nature of the retail automotive business, this role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as well as additional hours as needed to support business operations and team performance. This role reports to the General Manager of the dealership.

Requirements

  • Previous automotive dealership leadership experience as a General Sales Manager, Senior Sales Manager, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated success managing high-volume sales operations and achieving profitability targets.
  • Strong understanding of dealership financials, sales reporting, and inventory management.
  • Proficiency with dealership software platforms (e.g., 180, DealerMine, or equivalent CRM/DMS tools).
  • Valid provincial driver’s license.
  • Valid Sales Permit.
  • Proven leadership, business acumen, attention to detail, and operational discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all new and used vehicle sales operations to achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual objectives.
  • Drive profitability through effective management of unit sales, front and back-end gross, inventory turn, and departmental expense control.
  • Monitor sales performance metrics, forecasting, and market trends to ensure operational efficiency and sustained growth.
  • Ensure consistent execution of dealership sales processes, compliance standards, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Promote and maintain a customer-first culture focused on delivering an exceptional purchase experience and long-term client retention.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Resolve escalated customer and operational concerns using timely, professional, and evidence-based decision making.
  • Support dealership reputation management through consistent service excellence and accountability.
  • Analyze market conditions, competitor activity, pricing strategies, and manufacturer programs within the Canadian automotive market.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute sales strategies aligned with dealership objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for market share growth, process improvement, and operational efficiencies.
  • Support inventory strategy and pricing decisions based on market analytics and aging data.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to Sales Managers, Financial Services, and sales staff.
  • Establish clear expectations, accountability measures, and KPI-driven performance standards.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and ongoing employee development.
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and compliant dealership culture aligned with company values.
  • Ensure compliance with dealership policies, provincial regulations, manufacturer standards, and ethical sales practices.
  • Partner with Finance, Fixed Operations, and senior management teams to support overall dealership objectives.
  • Maintain accurate reporting, forecasting, and operational controls to support business performance and decision making.
