The General Manager is responsible for everything that happens during a shift, including cost, inventory, and cash controls, customer relations, staffing, and store operations. The role requires setting an example for the crew, following all policies and procedures, and expecting the same of team members. General Managers may be hired without prior pizza experience, although it is preferred. Candidates must complete all evaluations up to Manager in Training before becoming a store manager. Orientation and training are provided on the job. The position starts at minimum wage, with raises following training evaluations completed by the team member and manager. The listed Southern Oregon wage range is $15.55–$19.61. Monthly bonuses may be offered when criteria and responsibilities are met, but are not guaranteed. Newly hired General Managers qualify for medical, dental, and vision insurance upon hire; benefits are available for use after 60 days of employment. The company abides by Oregon state sick-pay requirements. This is an active role in a pizza store that may involve operating equipment, preparing products, handling orders and inventory, cleaning, and assisting with any work that needs to be done. Work may expose team members to adverse weather, temperature changes, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, hot surfaces, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. Physical activities include standing, walking, lifting and carrying supplies, pushing trays, occasional climbing, bending, crouching, and continuous reaching and hand use.
