About The Position

The Noah's Ark Water Park General Manager, located in the Wisconsin Dells, provides leadership and direction for all aspects of the waterpark facility. This includes managing all activities, events and programs associated with the park in accordance with company policies, procedures, and ethical business practices. The ideal candidate will possess proven leadership, problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to generate/monitor sales and revenue while controlling expenses. The ideal candidate shall also have experience managing a diverse team and providing excellent guest service to ensure safe and enjoyable host and guest experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, or related discipline highly desired; equivalent education and work experience will also be considered.
  • 5-7 years of progressive managerial experience in an aquatics recreational facility, theme park or similar high volume seasonal entertainment venue with demonstrated ability to increase revenue, deliver results and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, open to close.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to other park locations (up to 10% expected travel).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must possess a safety-oriented mindset and be fully committed to enforcing all DOSH, Ellis, and all other regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and successfully lead a large number of team members.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations, meet the demands of constant deadlines and coordinate multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess strong decision-making skills and be able to think creatively while maintaining accordance with all safety, financial, and regulatory constraints.
  • Ability to analyze financial information, costs, inventory and sales to achieve maximum profit potential and address variances for a multi-million-dollar facility.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday
  • Ability to remain sedentary for extended periods of time, while using a computer
  • Ability to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders
  • Must be able to meet all program requirements and successfully pass the Ellis & Associates lifeguard training program
  • Ability to aid and physically move guests of varying heights and weights
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more
  • Ability to climb or descend stairs for rides and attractions

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of flood remediation and clean up processes is desirable.
  • Previous water park experience is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert leadership to all park departments, to maximize profitability, optimal park operation, and unwavering safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned team members.
  • Manage and control all financial aspects of assigned departments while maximizing revenue and cost savings opportunities; maintain constant vigilance over labor, attendance, materials, and departmental spending and budgets.
  • Act as a strategic visionary to implement measures that will favorably impact process, people, and/or profit.
  • Ensure compliance with company and industry best practices, policies, and procedures to create a safe and productive environment for colleagues and guests.
  • Become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all assigned park operations positions and backfill these positions when needed.
  • Participate in all aspects of supervision of assigned employees, including hiring, orientation, training, performance coaching, and discipline.
  • Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are being given in accordance with Wisconsin law.
  • Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities.
  • Supports all requests and strategic initiatives proposed by Executive Leadership.
  • Lead and direct all waterpark operational functions including, but not limited to, food & beverage, retail, human resources, marketing, sales, safety/security, guest services, and maintenance while providing necessary guidance, support and coaching to the team.
  • Supervise and develop a highly motivated and effective team of supervisors, managers and staff to ensure extraordinary guest satisfaction and delivery of revenue goals.
  • Maintain visible presence in the park through daily inspections and regular interaction with employees and guests throughout the facility. Monitor and audit all aspects of the park to ensure consistent delivery of organizational quality standards for employees and guests at all revenue centers within the location.
  • Oversee the management of all operational functions of revenue centers, including profitability, marketing, sales and COS, finance, growth, cleanliness, staffing, safety, proper food handling, risk management, and guest relations.
  • Maximize sales potential through effective sales and marketing techniques, including group sales programs and other opportunities to exceed revenue goals.
  • Develop, implement and achieve budgetary goals. Submit expense and capital budget. recommendations while maintaining appropriate control of expenses, labor hours, operating costs, and inventory within budgeted guidelines.
  • Research and recommend new products and vendors to enhance guest satisfaction, sales, and cost control. Maintain positive vendor relations through professional courtesy and develop new vendor relationships to enhance operations.
  • In coordination with executive management, develop capital investment opportunities for incorporation into a 5-year strategic plan.
  • Ensure facilities are maintained in accordance with all company risk management and safety standards and regulations. Recommend facility and equipment improvements to achieve these standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, business processes and all applicable health, safety and risk management practices as well as governing state, federal and local regulations. Recommend facility and equipment improvements to achieve and maintain or exceed these standards.
  • Adhere to all applicable state and federal regulations and labor laws. Ensure company policies are consistently applied in all aspects of operations, safety, and human resources.
  • Plan and conduct weekly meetings with staff to communicate necessary information, monitor operational conditions and address issues. Conduct monthly all-park safety and informational meetings during the operating season.
  • Monitor industry standards, business trends and local community issues that impact the business.
  • All other duties as assigned by leadership.
