The field-based General Maintenance Technician supports maintenance at assigned Dollar General stores within a geographic area. The role responds in person to maintenance tickets, assesses preventative maintenance needs, and works with store leaders to identify and address entry-level repairs. The technician educates store leaders on maintenance best practices to help extend the life of coolers, freezers, and other equipment, and uses the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work and communicate with business partners. The position travels to stores in the assigned operating district to troubleshoot reported concerns, collect and verify asset information, guide store leadership on operational solutions, support entry-level repairs, provide light exterior grounds support, and assess safety equipment in alignment with local ordinances. Tickets must be documented and resolved within designated time frames. The technician may train store personnel to identify root causes and, while on site, complete checklists to identify preventative maintenance or small maintenance activities. Occasional after-hours work may be required based on repair urgency. The role interacts with store and operational leadership, external vendors, and maintenance service providers, and supports Dollar General’s customer service and brand growth through execution of maintenance standards.
