About The Position

The General Labourer collects samples and observes or inspects products and raw materials for laboratory analysis. The role works under immediate supervision and may also perform preparation or laboratory responsibilities as business needs require. The position is scheduled for the day shift, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with possible overtime. Local day travel may be required, and occasional overnight travel may be needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
No experience required, unless required by state law.
A valid, current driver's license may be required if driving a company vehicle is part of the role.
May be required to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
May be required to obtain a 24-hour Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) surface certificate; training is available through SGS.

Responsibilities

Collect samples of products or raw materials during transfer to containers, vessels, barges, trucks, or rail.
Label sample containers and related paperwork with identifying information, sample location, and collection date and time.
Deliver samples to the laboratory for analysis.
Prepare, reduce, and divide samples to appropriate sizes.
Collect samples at specified locations, processing stages, and time intervals.
Perform sample screening and other related physical tests.
Organize and clean equipment and containers before and after use.
Wear task-relevant personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Comply with required local and federal safety processes and procedures.
Perform preparation or laboratory duties as required by business needs.
Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
