About The Position

As a General Production team member at Smithfield Foods, you will perform essential production tasks and support coworkers to help deliver safe, high-quality food. The role contributes to a safe and efficient production line and requires reliability, attention to detail, teamwork, and willingness to learn. Employees use hand tools, knives, machinery, and other equipment to process meat products. The work can be physically demanding and requires good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. Team members must work their scheduled shift and may be required to work overtime based on production demands. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Willingness and ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform continuous and repetitive movements, including grasping, pinching, and flexing and extending the arms.
Ability to stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
Ability to work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
Ability to work with a knife if trained.
Ability to work in cold areas of approximately 20–40 degrees and/or warm areas over 100 degrees.
Ability to work in wet and humid conditions, noisy environments, and around strong smells or odors.
Ability to wear a hard hat, hearing and eye protection, steel-toed safety shoes, and other required personal protective equipment.
Ability to work with sanitation and cleaning chemicals.
Ability to climb and move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms.
Ability to bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift, and walk long distances.
Some positions may require certification to operate equipment.
Some positions may require repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 pounds, single lifts of objects up to 60 pounds, or lifting with mechanical assistance.
Good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
