About The Position

The General Custodian maintains a clean, safe, and organized environment throughout the facility, including manufacturing areas, offices, breakrooms, restrooms, and outdoor spaces. The role performs housekeeping, recycling, and sanitation duties using standard custodial equipment and supplies to support the cleanliness and appearance of the plant and its manufacturing operations. The position works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, cleaning chemicals, and other typical plant conditions. It involves frequent movement throughout the facility and may require occasional overtime to support business needs. The listed schedule is 11:00 AM–9:00 PM. Pay is $17.69 per hour, with overtime for hours over 40.

Requirements

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and machinery.
Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift or tow motor and a floor scrubber.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
Ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks.
Dependability and a strong work ethic.
Ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the facility.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment, machinery, and tools required for the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to safely operate or obtain certification to operate a forklift or tow motor and floor maintenance equipment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or manufacturing facility cleaning experience preferred.
Forklift or tow motor experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain manufacturing areas, offices, breakrooms, restrooms, and other facility spaces.
Perform routine housekeeping, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and washing floors and surfaces.
Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste in designated areas.
Maintain office furnishings, carpets, upholstery, windows, walls, and other facility fixtures.
Operate floor sweepers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other custodial equipment.
Operate a forklift or tow motor as needed to support custodial and recycling operations.
Manage recycling and waste disposal, including operating compactors, cardboard balers, and dumpsters.
Maintain exterior paved areas and surrounding grounds as assigned.
Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Inspect work areas and maintain facility cleanliness and safety standards.
