About The Position

This Custodian position is located in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and is set aside for a person with a disability under an AbilityOne government contract. Proof of disability is required before interviewing. Under the supervision of the Custodial Foreman, the employee performs cleaning tasks required to meet custodial contract specifications. Core working hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at an hourly wage of $17.84. The employee must successfully complete a criminal-history background check and drug screening and be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Requirements

• Provide proof of disability before interviewing.
• Successfully complete a criminal-history background check and drug screening.
• Be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance and pass security clearance for designated contracts.
• Have three to six months of training or experience, or be capable of learning to perform the essential functions.
• Be able to stand for 80% of work time, walk for 15%, and sit for 5%.
• Be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and push and pull 50 pounds.
• Be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and handle.
• Be able to communicate with supervisors and coworkers.
• Have vision, depth perception, and color discrimination sufficient for safety and distinguishing chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop hallways, stairs, and offices.
• Empty wastebaskets and dispose of trash as prescribed.
• Dust horizontal surfaces.
• Empty and wash ashtrays.
• Clean bathrooms.
• Wax and buff floors using prescribed buffers.
• Clean glass and windows.
• Wash walls and other vertical surfaces.
• Sweep and clear snow from outside steps and sidewalks.
• Polish kick panels, doorknobs, and other designated fixtures.
• Strip and wax floors.
• Vacuum rugs.
• Mix cleaning solutions.
• Maintain issued equipment.
• Notify the supervisor when supplies or equipment are needed.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Custodial Foreman.
