About The Position

HES is a national facilities management provider focused exclusively on educational institutions. The General Cleaner (Custodian) helps maintain school facilities so they remain clean, safe, and functional, supporting smooth school operations and an environment where students can focus on learning. The role includes routine building maintenance and direct support to classroom teachers with setting up and maintaining furniture and equipment. The position is part-time and requires weekend work. No prior work experience is required.

Requirements

Must be able to work weekends.
Able to read, write, and comprehend at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.

Criminal background check.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Able to push, pull, stand, bend, stoop, and kneel.
Able to walk up to 8 hours per day.
Able to climb ladders and scaffolds up to 6 feet high, and stairs.

Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors.
Machine-shampoo carpeting.
Clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures.
Wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors.
Sweep entryways, empty exterior cigarette urns, and empty trash cans immediately outside building entrances.
Clean restrooms, plunge sinks and toilets, and replenish supplies.
Change interior light bulbs that can be reached from the sixth step of a ladder or lower.
Complete work requests to notify management of needed repair work.
Remove snow and ice and apply salt or ice-melting products to assigned areas when needed.
Organize and supply custodial closets as needed.
Move, remove, or set up furniture, furnishings, supplies, equipment, and other items inside specified rooms for special functions as directed.
Perform additional job-related duties as required by the supervisor.
