About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is hiring a General Cleaner to perform cleaning activities at an assigned facility, keeping it clean, sanitary, and orderly. The role includes cleaning surfaces, bathrooms, floors, grounds, public common areas, and food court spaces; operating janitorial equipment; and completing other assigned tasks. Cleaners are expected to follow safe work practices and chemical instructions, maintain a neat appearance, interact courteously with customers, and report facility problems or unfinished work to a supervisor. Additional duties may include floor care such as stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing. The listed schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings. The posting identifies the assignment as Academy Sport Katy.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals, including following MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including prolonged walking, standing, or sitting; operating equipment; lifting and carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing or pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, and fingering.
Visual ability, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination, to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting of surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, ledges, and curtain tips.
Sanitize and spot-clean surfaces below shoulder height, and remove fingerprints, smudges, and window spots using appropriate solutions.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, and dispensers; refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, wipe them when necessary, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture, and sanitize floors using the proper solution.
Clean and inspect outside areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, parking lots, benches, vending machines, and public-area glass.
Maintain public common areas by dust mopping and spot mopping hallways, cleaning glass, tending to planters, and checking for cobwebs and debris.
Clean food court tables and trash cans, spot-clean spills, return chairs to their places, transport dirty trays to the washroom, clean trays using a tray power washer, and stack clean trays for reuse.
Inspect completed rooms, review cleaning steps, check furniture placement, and make corrections as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Provide courteous customer service, work quietly, stay in the assigned area unless directed otherwise, and report broken items or unfinished assignments to a supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned, potentially including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing.
