About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is hiring a General Cleaner to perform cleaning activities at Macy’s Summit Mall in Akron. The role maintains assigned facilities in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition and performs other related duties as assigned. The cleaner carries out detailed cleaning of rooms, bathrooms, floors, public common areas, the food court, and outdoor grounds. Duties include dusting, sanitizing and spot cleaning surfaces, cleaning and replenishing bathroom dispensers, handling trash, dust mopping or vacuuming, sanitizing floors, and keeping public areas and exterior spaces clean. The position may also involve floor care such as stripping and waxing floors, carpet extraction and bonneting, and auto scrubbing and buffing. The role requires courteous customer interaction, quiet and professional conduct, staying within the assigned work area unless directed otherwise, reporting damaged or malfunctioning items, and notifying a supervisor if assigned work is not completed by the end of the shift. Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial work operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals, including following MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain the physical condition required for the assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; operating equipment; lifting and carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing and pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching overhead, handling, grasping, and fingering.
Sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform cleaning tasks, maintain safety, and operate equipment and tools.

Responsibilities

Perform assigned cleaning activities to keep buildings and facilities clean, sanitary, and orderly.
High-dust surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, ledges, and window areas.
Sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and spot-clean fingerprints, smudges, and windows.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets, and check and refill soap and paper dispensers daily as needed.
Empty trash cans; wipe cans if they contain liquid and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture, and sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution.
Clean and inspect exterior areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, parking lots, benches, vending machines, window ledges, and public-area glass; remove spills and gum.
Dust mop and spot mop hallways, clean glass, maintain planters, and check corners and window areas for dirt and cobwebs.
Clean and sanitize food-court tables, return chairs to their places, spot-clean spills, empty trash, and police outside eating areas.
Collect dirty trays, take them to the washroom, clean them using the tray power washer, and stack clean trays for reuse.
Inspect completed rooms, check furniture placement, and make corrections as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture, and perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Knock before entering an occupied room and provide friendly, courteous, and helpful customer service; refer questions when appropriate.
Report broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor and report unfinished assignments at the end of the shift.
Work quietly, maintain a neat personal appearance, and remain in the assigned work area unless directed elsewhere by a supervisor.
Perform other assigned duties, which may include floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto scrubbing and buffing.
