About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is seeking a General Cleaner to perform cleaning activities at Macy’s in Greenwood Park Mall. The role is responsible for keeping assigned areas clean, sanitary, and orderly, and completing other duties related to the assignment. Work includes cleaning rooms, bathrooms, floors, public common areas, food-court areas, and outdoor grounds; replenishing dispensers; and reporting maintenance issues to a supervisor. The employee is expected to follow safe cleaning practices and chemical instructions, work courteously around customers, maintain a neat personal appearance, and remain in the assigned work area unless directed elsewhere. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor or Account Manager, including floor-care tasks such as stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial work and the methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals, including following MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including chemical warning labels.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to maintain the physical condition needed for assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; equipment operation; lifting and carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing and pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, and fingering.
Visual ability, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination, to perform cleaning tasks, operate equipment and tools, and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

High-dust surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, door areas, curtain tips, vents, and ledges.
Sanitize and spot-clean surfaces below shoulder height; remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls, and spot-clean windows.
Clean bathrooms using germicidal solution, including sinks and toilets; clean and check soap and paper dispensers and refill them as needed.
Empty trash cans, wipe them if they contain liquid, and replace liners with clean ones.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture, and dispose of collected dust appropriately.
Clean outdoor areas several times during the day, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, parking lots, benches, vending machines, window ledges, and public-area glass; remove gum and spot-clean spills.
Dust mop and spot mop main hallways; clean glass several times during the day; clean planters and remove bird waste; check window areas for cobwebs and debris and high-dust them at least twice per week.
Clean and sanitize food-court tables, return chairs under tables, spot-clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, take dirty trays to the wash room, operate the tray power washer, stack clean trays, and patrol outdoor eating areas.
Sanitize floors with the appropriate germicidal solution, working from the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Inspect completed rooms, review cleaning steps, check furniture placement, and make corrections as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Knock before entering an occupied room; assist customers courteously or refer them to someone who can help.
Report broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor; work quietly, remain in the assigned area unless directed otherwise, and report unfinished assignments at the end of the shift.
Perform other assigned duties, potentially including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing.
