About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is a commercial cleaning business serving offices, banks, schools, corporate and industrial facilities, medical facilities, and department stores. The General Cleaner performs a variety of cleaning activities in assigned facilities to keep them clean, sanitary, and orderly, and performs other duties related to the assignment. Duties include cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, restrooms, floors, public areas, food-court spaces, and outdoor grounds. The cleaner follows specified procedures for dusting, vacuuming, mopping, restroom sanitation, waste removal, and replenishing dispensers. The role also includes inspecting completed work, maintaining courteous customer interactions, reporting issues to a supervisor, and undertaking other assigned tasks, which may include floor care and carpet cleaning.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals in accordance with MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain the physical condition needed to perform assigned duties, including extended periods of walking, standing, or sitting; operating equipment; lifting or carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing or pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, and fingering.
Visual ability, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination, to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

High-dust surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, and ledges.
Sanitize and spot-clean surfaces below shoulder height, and remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls.
Spot-clean windows.
Clean sinks and toilets with germicidal solution; inspect and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, wipe them when necessary, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture and in restrooms.
Clean outdoor areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, parking lots, benches, vending machines, and window ledges; remove gum and spot-clean spills.
Dust mop and spot mop public hallways; clean glass and planters, and check window areas for cobwebs and debris.
Clean food-court tables, sanitize surfaces, return chairs to their places, remove trash, clean trays using a tray power washer, and police outdoor eating areas.
Sanitize floors, working from the back of the room toward the exit and cleaning under furniture and behind doors.
Inspect completed rooms, check furniture placement, and correct issues as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Knock before entering occupied rooms, treat customers courteously, answer or refer questions, and work quietly.
Report broken or out-of-order items and unfinished assignments to a supervisor.
Remain in the assigned work area unless directed otherwise, and maintain a clean, neat personal appearance.
Perform other duties as assigned, potentially including stripping and waxing floors, carpet extraction and bonneting, and auto scrubbing and buffing floors.
