About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is a commercial cleaning business that provides facility-specific cleaning services. The General Cleaner performs a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings and facilities to keep them clean, sanitary, and orderly, along with other tasks related to the assigned area. Duties include cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, bathrooms, floors, public common areas, food court areas, and building grounds. The employee follows prescribed cleaning procedures, uses appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment, replenishes dispensers, removes waste, and inspects completed work. The role also involves courteous customer interaction, reporting maintenance issues to a supervisor, and carrying out additional duties as assigned, which may include floor care and carpet cleaning.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices and the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals in accordance with MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, and interpret cleaning-chemical instructions and warning labels.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to maintain the physical condition needed to perform assigned duties, including prolonged walking, standing, or sitting; lifting and carrying equipment, supplies, and trash weighing 1–30 pounds; pushing and pulling with both hands and arms using 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching overhead throughout the shift; and handling and grasping equipment and tools.
Sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment and tools safely.

Responsibilities

High-dust surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, and ledges, using a treated high duster.
Sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and spot-clean fingerprints, smudges, and windows using appropriate solutions.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets; clean and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, clean them if they contain liquid, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture, and collect and dispose of dust.
Clean and check outdoor areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curbs, parking lots, benches, vending machines, and public-area glass; spot-clean spills and remove gum.
Dust mop and spot mop public hallways; clean glass and planters; check corners and window areas for cobwebs and debris.
Clean and sanitize food court tables, return chairs to their places, remove trash and dirty trays, operate the tray power washer, and police outdoor eating areas.
Sanitize floors by mopping from the back of the room toward the exit, including under furniture and behind doors.
Inspect completed rooms, check furniture placement, and make corrections as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Follow customer-service expectations, including knocking before entering occupied rooms, assisting or directing customers, working quietly, maintaining a neat appearance, and staying in the assigned work area unless directed otherwise.
Report broken or out-of-order items and unfinished assignments to a supervisor.
Perform other assigned duties, potentially including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto-scrubbing and buffing.
