About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Sufficiently communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
  • Interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs force, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
  • Requires depth perception, hand and eye coordination in operation of equipment and tool use.
  • Sight – in performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height in a counter-clockwise direction.
  • Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and remove fingerprints/smudges from surfaces. Spot clean windows.
  • Bathroom Cleaning: Clean and sanitize sinks, toilet bowls, and surrounding areas. Check and refill soap and paper dispensers.
  • Empty Trash Cans: Remove liners, clean cans if necessary, and replace liners.
  • Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors, starting from the back of the room and working towards the door, ensuring all areas are covered.
  • Grounds Care: Clean and check outside areas including emptying trash cans, policing sidewalks and parking lots for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, and high dusting for dust and cobwebs.
  • Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass, clean planters, and perform high dusting of window areas.
  • Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables. Spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, clean dirty trays using a tray power washer, and police outside eating areas.
  • Floor Sanitizing: Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, starting from the back of the room and working towards the exit.
  • Your Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement for corrections.
  • Daily Tasks: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting and high dusting are done daily.
  • Customer Relations and Service: Be friendly and courteous to customers, answer questions, report issues to supervisors, work quietly, stay in the assigned area, and maintain a neat personal appearance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care, carpet cleaning, auto scrubbing, and buffing floors.
