About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. This role also involves performing other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate powered and non-powered equipment.
  • Ability to lift/carry 1-30 lbs. of equipment, supplies, trash.
  • Ability to push/pull, using both hands and arms while performing cleaning duties, exerting 5-35 lbs force.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders while cleaning upper areas and drapes.
  • Ability to bend/twist/balance at waist, knees, neck throughout shift.
  • Ability to kneel/crouch/crawl while cleaning lower areas and retrieving supplies.
  • Ability to reach, handle, grasp and finger while operating equipment, using hand and power tools, wiping and cleaning surfaces.
  • Overhead reaching required throughout shift.
  • Adequate sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height.
  • Sanitize and spot clean surfaces below shoulder height using a germicidal solution.
  • Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, and dispensers, using germicidal solutions.
  • Empty trash cans, replacing liners as needed, and cleaning cans if they contain liquid.
  • Dust mop or vacuum floors using the appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Perform grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and parking lots for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, high dusting for dust and cobwebs, and cleaning public area glass.
  • Clean and maintain public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping hallways, cleaning planters, and performing high dusting of window areas.
  • Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, and clean trays using a tray power washer.
  • Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, ensuring all areas under furniture and behind doors are cleaned.
  • Conduct self-inspections after completing cleaning tasks, reviewing steps, and visually checking furniture placement.
  • Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, along with high dusting.
  • Engage in customer relations and service by being friendly, courteous, answering questions, and reporting issues to the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Account Manager, which may include floor care such as stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and auto scrubbing and buffing floors.
