About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is a commercial cleaning business that provides customized cleaning services to facilities including office buildings, schools, industrial and medical facilities, and department store chains. The General Cleaner performs a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings and facilities to keep them clean, sanitary, and orderly, as well as other tasks related to the assignment. The work includes high dusting; sanitizing and spot cleaning; bathroom cleaning and replenishing dispensers; emptying and cleaning trash cans; floor dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing; and cleaning grounds, public common areas, and food court areas. Cleaners inspect their work, maintain courteous and quiet interactions with customers, report broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor, and remain in their assigned work area unless directed otherwise. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor or Account Manager, including floor care such as stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and auto scrubbing and buffing.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial work and the methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals, including interpreting MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry equipment, supplies, and trash weighing 1–30 lbs.
Ability to push and pull using both hands and arms while cleaning, exerting 5–35 lbs. of force.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders while cleaning upper areas and drapes.
Ability to bend, twist, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl during the shift.
Ability to reach, handle, grasp, and finger while operating equipment and cleaning surfaces; overhead reaching is required throughout the shift.
Sufficient sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment and tools safely.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting on surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, ledges, and window areas.
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces below shoulder height, remove fingerprints and smudges, and spot clean windows.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets, and check and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, wipe them if necessary, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture and in restrooms.
Clean and check outside areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, parking lots, benches, vending machines, and public-area glass.
Dust mop and spot mop public hallways; clean glass and planters; and check for cobwebs and debris.
Clean and sanitize food court tables, manage trash and dirty trays, and police outside eating areas.
Sanitize floors, working under furniture and behind doors.
Inspect completed rooms, check furniture placement, and make corrections as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Knock before entering an occupied room and interact with customers in a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner.
Report broken or out-of-order items and unfinished assignments to a supervisor.
Work quietly, maintain a neat personal appearance, and stay in the assigned work area unless directed elsewhere.
Perform other assigned duties, which may include floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto scrubbing and buffing.
