About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is hiring a General Cleaner to perform cleaning activities at Academy Sport in Matthews. The role is scheduled Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday in the morning for four hours per day. The cleaner keeps assigned facilities clean, sanitary, and orderly and performs other tasks related to the assignment. Work includes high dusting, sanitizing and spot cleaning, bathroom cleaning, emptying trash, floor dusting or vacuuming, floor sanitizing, and cleaning public common areas and food court areas. Grounds care includes cleaning outdoor areas, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, and parking lots. The cleaner inspects completed work and makes corrections as needed. The position also involves courteous customer service, reporting broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor, staying in the assigned work area, and reporting unfinished work at the end of a shift. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor or Account Manager, including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto-scrubbing and buffing.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial work, methods, materials, equipment, and safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals, following MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain the physical condition needed to perform assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; equipment operation; lifting and carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing and pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and handling equipment and supplies.
Sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting of surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, and ledges.
Sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and remove fingerprints, smudges, and spots from doors, walls, and windows.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets, and check and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, wipe them when necessary, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture, and dispose of collected dust.
Clean and inspect outdoor areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, benches, vending machines, window ledges, public glass, and parking lots.
Clean public common areas, including hallways, glass, planters, and window areas; check corners and edges for dirt and cobwebs.
Clean and sanitize food court tables, return chairs to their places, spot-clean spills, empty trash, and clean and stack trays.
Sanitize floors, including under furniture and behind doors.
Inspect completed rooms, review cleaning steps, check furniture placement, and make corrections as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Provide courteous, helpful customer service and refer questions when needed.
Report broken or out-of-order items and unfinished work to a supervisor.
Work quietly, maintain a neat personal appearance, and remain in the assigned work area unless directed otherwise.
Perform other assigned duties, which may include floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto-scrubbing and buffing.
