About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is a commercial cleaning business serving a range of facilities across the United States. The General Cleaner performs cleaning activities at assigned buildings and facilities, keeping them clean, sanitary, and orderly, along with other tasks related to the assigned area. The role includes cleaning and sanitizing rooms, bathrooms, floors, public common areas, food courts, and outdoor grounds. Cleaners follow specified procedures for high dusting, spot cleaning, waste removal, floor dusting or vacuuming, floor sanitizing, and replenishing dispensers. They inspect completed work, maintain customer-friendly conduct, and report broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor or Account Manager, including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto-scrubbing and buffing.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial work, including methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of using toxic and non-toxic chemicals in accordance with MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including cleaning-chemical labels and warnings.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to maintain the physical condition needed to perform assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; lifting and carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing and pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching overhead, and handling and grasping equipment and tools.
Sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment and tools safely.

Responsibilities

High-dust surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, and ledges.
Sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and spot-clean fingerprints, smudges, and windows.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets, and check and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, replace liners, and wipe cans when necessary.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture and in restrooms.
Clean outdoor areas by emptying receptacles, removing litter and cigarette butts, spot-cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, cleaning window ledges and public glass, and checking parking areas.
Dust mop and spot mop public hallways; clean glass and planters; and check for cobwebs and debris, including high-dusting window areas at least twice per week.
Clean and sanitize food-court tables, manage trash and dirty trays, operate the tray power washer, and police outside eating areas.
Sanitize floors using the specified procedure.
Inspect completed work and correct cleaning or furniture-placement issues as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture, and perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Knock before entering an occupied room, assist or direct customers courteously, work quietly, remain in the assigned area unless directed otherwise, maintain a neat appearance, and report unfinished assignments or problems to a supervisor.
Perform other assigned duties, potentially including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto-scrubbing and buffing.
