About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site accurately and efficiently, and collects appropriate usage fees from customers. The role involves evaluating waste loads, documenting incoming materials using truck scales and computer systems, handling customer payments and receipts, and supporting the processing of special loads. The employee also answers calls, maintains a clean work area, and performs other assigned job-related duties.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience using computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the contents of materials entering the facility to bill customers appropriately.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents and suggest alternatives based on special-waste, waste-type, and/or local-market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts to ensure accurate recordkeeping and billing, and deposit daily receipts into the safe depository.
Document waste entering the facility using truck scales and computer systems, and track total waste volume.
Notify operations about special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch as needed; process required paperwork and perform other duties needed to process special loads.
Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
