About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site accurately and efficiently, and collects appropriate usage fees from customers. The role involves evaluating incoming materials and waste loads, billing customers, handling payments and receipts, maintaining records, and coordinating special loads with operations. The position also answers telephone inquiries, maintains a clean work area, and performs other assigned job-related duties.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the content of materials entering the facility to bill customers appropriately.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents and suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, and/or local market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts, maintain accurate records and billing, and deposit daily receipts in the safe depository.
Document incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, and track total waste volumes.
Notify operations about special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch as necessary; and complete required paperwork and other tasks to process special loads.
Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
