About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site and collects applicable usage fees. The role assesses incoming material, documents loads using truck scales and computer systems, handles customer payments and receipts, and supports the processing of special loads. The position also includes providing general information by telephone, maintaining a clean work area, and completing other assigned job-related duties. The stated pay range is $16.40 to $22.55. The actual range depends on the locality where the employee is hired.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the content of material entering the facility to bill the customer appropriately.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents and suggest alternatives based on special waste, waste type, and/or local market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts for accurate recordkeeping and billing, and deposit daily receipts into the safe depository.
Document incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, and track the total amount entering the facility.
Notify operations about special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch as necessary; process required paperwork and perform other duties needed to process special loads.
Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
