About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site, collects applicable usage fees, and helps ensure accurate customer billing and facility records. The role assesses incoming waste, documents loads using truck scales and computer systems, and coordinates the processing of special or unusual loads. It also includes customer service, cash handling, and maintaining a clean work area.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the content of materials entering the facility to bill customers appropriately.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their content and suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, or local market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts, maintain accurate records and billing, and deposit daily receipts in the safe depository.
Document incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, and track the total amount of waste entering the facility.
Notify operations about special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch loads as needed; and complete required paperwork and other duties to process them.
Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
