About The Position

The Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site and collects appropriate usage fees from customers. The role evaluates incoming waste, handles customer payments and receipts, maintains accurate daily records, and coordinates the processing of special loads. The position also involves answering calls, keeping the work area clean, and performing other assigned job-related duties.

Requirements

• Experience in a position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
• Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

• Determine the contents of incoming materials for appropriate customer billing.
• Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents and suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, or local market training.
• Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
• Balance daily receipts, maintain accurate records and billing, and deposit daily receipts in the safe depository.
• Document incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, and track total waste volumes.
• Notify operations about special waste or other special incoming loads; direct or dispatch as needed; process required paperwork and perform related duties.
• Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
