About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site and collects applicable usage fees. The role evaluates incoming waste, determines appropriate billing, and documents waste using truck scales and computer systems. It also handles customer payments and receipts, balances and deposits daily receipts, and coordinates special or other incoming loads with operations. The position includes answering general telephone inquiries, maintaining a clean work area, and performing other assigned job-related duties.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the content of incoming material for accurate customer billing.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents and suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, or local market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts, maintain accurate records and billing, and deposit receipts in the safe depository.
Document incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, and track the total amount of waste entering the facility.
Notify operations about special waste or other special incoming loads, direct or dispatch loads as needed, and process required paperwork.
Answer telephone calls and provide general information to callers.
Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
Perform other assigned job-related duties.
