About The Position

The Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site, determines the contents of incoming materials, and collects appropriate usage fees from customers. The role documents waste using truck scales and computer systems, tracks facility waste totals, and supports the safe and accurate handling of special loads. It also includes customer service, cash and receipt processing, telephone support, and maintaining a clean work area.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the contents of incoming materials to bill customers properly.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents and suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, or local-market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts, maintain accurate records and billing, and deposit daily receipts into the safe depository.
Document incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, and track total waste entering the facility.
Notify operations about special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch as needed, process required paperwork, and perform other duties needed to process special loads.
Answer telephone calls and provide general information.
Maintain a clean work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
