About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site, determines the contents of incoming loads, and collects appropriate usage fees. The role uses truck scales and computer systems to document incoming waste and track total volumes. It also involves customer service, cash handling and balancing, coordinating special loads, and maintaining a clean work area. The position is represented as a union role with a stated pay rate of $21.79 per hour.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position involving cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the contents of material entering the facility to bill customers appropriately.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents and suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, and local-market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts, maintain accurate records and billing, and deposit daily receipts in the safe depository.
Use truck scales and computer systems to document incoming waste and track total volumes.
Notify operations about special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch as necessary, process required paperwork, and perform other duties needed to process special loads.
Answer telephone calls and provide callers with general information.
Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
