About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site and collects applicable usage fees. The role involves assessing incoming waste, documenting loads with truck scales and computer systems, handling customer payments and receipts, and coordinating special loads with operations. It also provides general information to callers and maintains a clean work area. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the content of incoming material to bill customers appropriately.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their content and suggest alternatives based on special waste, waste type, or local market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts, maintain accurate records and billing, and deposit daily receipts into the safe depository.
Document incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, and track the total amount of waste entering the facility.
Notify operations about special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch loads as necessary; and process required paperwork and other duties for special loads.
Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
